I have received a mail from SBM yesterday that niyo SBM debit card will be charged 423+ Gst ( if u r not maintaining Rs 5000 in ur SBM a/c). Is it true ? Cause we all know when we open this account, it was a non-maintainance Saving a/c plus Debit card with Zero Annual fee. Is it apply to everyone now ??
We tried calling you at 98xxxx594, but couldn’t connect.

We appreciate your patience. As per SBM Bank, the AMC (Rs. 423 + GST) will be applicable only from July 2025. However, this charge will be waived if you maintain an average balance of Rs. 5,000 in the three months preceding your account anniversary.
For example:
If your account was opened in September 2024, maintaining Rs. 5,000 as an average balance in June, July, and August 2025 will waive the fee.
If your account was opened in or before July 2024, the average balance for April, May, and June 2025 will be considered.
Additionally, if you hold a Niyo SBM Secured Credit Card, the AMC will be waived under the same conditions. You need to maintain either an average balance of Rs. 5,000 or have a minimum FD under the SBM Credit Card in the 10th, 11th, and 12th months before your account anniversary. Maintaining either one is sufficient.
We hope this clarifies your query. Let us know if you need any further assistance!

You’re absolutely right! Since your account was created in February 2025, you’ll need to maintain the balance for Nov 25, Dec 25, and Jan 26 accordingly. However, the Niyo SBM debit card does have an annual charge—but don’t worry! If you meet the required criteria, the charges will be reversed. Keep banking smart!
Very bad response time for a critical thing like a debit card which has international transaction involved . I received a card last month and its activation is still pending stating that lrs is crossed for last financial year. This is a new financial year still the card is not activated and nobody responding to multiple emails.
We acknowledge your concern regarding the activation of international transactions on your Niyo SBM debit card. Our team is currently reviewing your details, and we will get back to you at the earliest. We appreciate your patience and will provide an update as soon as possible.
Thanks for your time over the call. As discussed, your concern regarding the LRS limit has already been escalated to the bank, and we are actively following up for an update. We will reach out to you soon with a confirmation. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
As discussed over the call, we confirm that SBM Bank has reset the LRS limit, allowing you to make international transactions using your SBM Debit Card for this financial year. Please feel free to reach out if you need any further assistance.
It is heart warming to see your positive feedback @roydeepayan
