If you’re using a NiyoX Equitas or Niyo Global account powered by Equitas Bank, here’s everything you need to know about upcoming changes — and how to stay travel-ready without missing a beat.

Effective June 1, 2025:

  • :cross_mark: You will no longer be able to access or operate your Equitas Bank account via the NiyoX or Niyo Global apps.
  • :credit_card: The 0% forex markup benefit on your Niyo Global Equitas debit card will also be discontinued.
  • :globe_with_meridians: Your card will still work internationally, but a 1.5% forex markup fee will apply on all international spends.
  • :locked_with_key: Good news: Your Equitas account remains active and secure, and can still be accessed via the Equitas Bank mobile app, netbanking, or by visiting a branch.

Thinking of Closing Your Equitas Account?

We’d love for you to continue with Niyo Global (SBM/DCB) and enjoy 0% forex benefits. But if you still wish to close your Equitas account, here’s how:

Hi,

I currently have an account and debit card with Equitas. Since the partnership is ending, I’d like to get a debit card with DCB/SBM. I do not see an option to do that on the Niyo Global app.
Could anyone guide me on how to do this?
I’m traveling abroad in 10 days and this announcement caught me by surprise. It’s not clear at all how to transition from Equitas to DCB/SBM.

Hi, thanks for replying but it doesn’t really answer my question.

I have the Niyo Global app. When I open it, it goes straight to my Niyo account with Equitas and there’s no option to apply for Niyo Global SBM or Niyo Global DCB debit card. The only option is to apply for a credit card, but I’m not interested in credit card.

How to apply for a SBM or DCB debit card if I already have the Equitas one? Do I need to first close my account with Equitas?

I got the notification on my whatsapp from Niyo to upgrade my account either to DCB or SBM and I will get upgraded to Niyo Premium. I upgraded to DCB and my account got verified but still didn’t upgraded to the Niyo Premium.

Since Niyo Equitas is shutting down, I have no option but to switch to Niyo Global DCB/SBM. However, I am outside India and cannot issue a new card. Is there a way I can switch online?

I recently got a notification that Niyo Equitas will be charging the forex charges from June 2025 and I have been asked to upgrade to DCB OR SBM cards for zero forex. Unfortunately I am not able to find any option in the app where I can upgrade the card and close the equitas bank. Can anyone help me with this issue.
