Thank you for your patience. After checking with the bank, we found that your total international transactions have exceeded the TCS limit of ₹7 Lakh, with the current usage being ₹7,19,227.99. As a result, TCS will be applicable to the transactions exceeding this limit, including those from the 8th and 19th, as per RBI guidelines.
We recommend proceeding with the necessary steps to file your ITR for the refund claim.

I am an international student in Italy and had requested a refund on the TCS, which should be 0.5%, but I am currently being charged 20%. I raised this request on 16th December and submitted all the required documents at that time. Despite my repeated follow-ups, the issue remains unresolved.
Since my initial request, I have re-shared the documents four times and sent over 23 reminder emails. Unfortunately, the responses I have received so far have been automated and unhelpful, offering no resolution to my case.
This ongoing issue has consumed significant time and effort, and the lack of proper support is extremely disappointing. The reference number for my request is CS1526192.
I kindly urge you to prioritize and resolve this matter at the earliest. If this email address, customercare@dcbbank.com, cannot provide effective support, please escalate my request or provide an alternate contact where I can find resolution. Receiving automated responses instead of human support is counterproductive and frustrating.
Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We sincerely apologize for the challenges and inconvenience caused by this issue.
We have escalated your request to the concerned team for immediate attention. Rest assured, we are actively working to resolve the issue and will keep you updated on the progress.
In the meantime, if you have any further questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
We have checked with the bank team regarding your concerns and would like to provide you with an update on your case.
The bank team made several attempts to contact you, but unfortunately, they were unable to reach you. After reviewing your account, we got to know that your TCS limit has been exceeded.
On 9th December, your TCS limit was ₹14,98,460.15, and as of 6th January, it has increased to ₹15,25,228.74. Since this limit has been surpassed, you are unfortunately no longer eligible for any refund.
Additionally, due to the exhaustion of the TCS limit, a 20% TCS charge will now be applied to each transaction moving forward. Please note, you can claim the TCS refund or deduction when filing your Income Tax Return (ITR).
Regarding the request raised on 17th December (Ticket reference: CS1526192), we received an update stating that it was resolved on 19th December. The resolution clearly communicated that the TCS limit had been exhausted, and as such, no refund would be applicable.
We understand this may not be the outcome you were hoping for, and we sincerely regret the inconvenience this has caused. If you have any further questions or would like to discuss this matter in more detail, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to assist you.
I have spoken to the bank team over two phone calls and was informed that they were unable to access the attached documents I had shared. To address this, I resent the documents via new email on December 29 and January 2.
In the initial email, the team mentioned:
*"If your transaction is related to educational purposes and you want to get the TCS deducted at 5%, we request you to please share the following documents so that we can assist you regarding your concern:
Loan Sanction Letter
Loan Account SOA (showing loan amount and transfer of amount to Niyo account)
Niyo Account SOA
University Admission Letter (optional)"*
I am now being informed that I am not eligible, which is contradictory. Based on my understanding, students with an educational loan should be subject to a 0.5% TCS, not 5% or 20%.
I have promptly shared the requested documents and have been following up regularly. Despite my efforts, I am repeatedly told the attachments cannot be found, without any alternative solutions provided. The issue remains unresolved, and I am still awaiting my refund.
It is disappointing to have to explain the situation again. Please escalate this matter, recheck with the team, and let me know how I can share the documents effectively. If required, I can provide the email chain as proof—please share the appropriate email ID for this.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused. Kindly allow us some time to get this checked with the concerned team, and we will assist you further as soon as possible.
Thank you for your patience. I wanted to inform you that international transaction spending is tracked at the PAN level. If you’ve already transacted INR 7,00,000 internationally using other bank cards (e.g., HDFC/HSBC, etc.) during the same financial year, any subsequent international transactions made with your SBM debit card will be subject to TCS charges.
If you have any further questions or need additional clarification, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the SBM Bank support team. They’ll be happy to provide a detailed breakdown of your transactions.
We completely understand your concern and sincerely apologize for the delay in resolving this matter. Please rest assured that we’re actively following up with the bank and will keep you updated as soon as we hear back from them. Thank you for your patience and understanding!
As per the RBI CIMS report, your foreign outward transaction limit has been exceeded due to a debit card transaction performed on January 20, 2025. As a result, TCS was successfully recovered on January 21, 2025.
For your reference, we’ve shared the TCS calculation in your DM. Let us know if you need further assistance.
