We are planning a trip in the month of December during the Christmas holidays. Our child is 8 years old, and it will be a one-week trip.

A week in EITHER North or South Island is advisable. North Island, arrival Auckland, plenty for kids to do in the city. A trip to Rotorua (hot springs and geysers), the Waitomo Caves (glow worms), Maori cultural programmes.
South Island - arrival Christchurch. Drive to Te Anau and take a boat trip to see Milford and Doubtful Sound. Also the Fox Glacier. On to Queenstown, a big ski destination, also home of the bungee and river rafting.
