Indonesia Tourist Visa for Indians

Indonesia and more specifically, Bali, is a raging favourite international destination for many Indian tourists and travellers - especially for honeymooners, couples and families. But as always, it is very important to check the visa regulations before planning a visit to this amazing country.

This Indonesia Tourist Visa for Indians thread is specifically to share latest and accurate information about the Indonesia tourist visa as applicable to an Indian passport holder. Bali is an island inside Indonesia and hence does not have a separate Bali tourist visa as such

This is the current visa rule (as of June 2024):

  • Indian passport holders are eligible for a straight forward tourist visa on arrival for visits upto 30 days when entering via airports or seaports of Indonesia
  • Alternatively, Indian passport holders can also apply for a tourist e-visa which will help skip the visa-on-arrival queue at the airports (link below). The e-visa is typically issued for 30 days of travel within Indonesia with a validity period of upto 3 months (single entry only)
  • At immigration, upon being stamped in, it is best to verify the visa date and stay duration allowed as per the visa stamping in the passport to avoid exit-related issues while departing from the country

Official Indonesia Tourist Visa Government website/portal:

Important: In case the duration of stay exceeds 30 days, you can either apply for the 60 day visa (online) or manually extend the visa for an additional 30 days on your own or through a local agent in Indonesia.

Documents required to apply for the visa upon arrival:

  • Original Passport and copies of its front and back page

In some rare cases, officers may ask:

  • Proof of entry and exit (flight, land transport or sea transport bookings)
  • Proof of stay (hotel reservation or details of host with invitation letter)

Processing time for the visa:

  • Visa on arrival: depends on the length of the queue at the immigration desk.
  • For e-visas, processing time is typically five working days from date of applying

Cost of the visa:
IDR 500,000 (USD 35) for the single entry, 30 days visa

Immigration requirements:
At the airport or land border, present the passport to the officer along with any additional documents sought (such as accommodation details, exit flight details, etc.) to obtain a visa entry stamp for 30 days
