Visiting Sufi Shrine of one of the most known saints in India specially among Muslims.

This place is located in Roorke district of Uttarakhand, India. The dargah is one of the most revered shrines for Muslims in India, after Ajmer Sharif.

Here’s my itinerary for visiting Dargah Sabir Kaliyari in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, including travel options

Day 1: Arrival in Roorkee

Morning: Travel to Roorkee From Delhi:

  • By Train: Take a train from New Delhi Railway Station to Roorkee. Trains like the Dehradun Express or Nanda Devi Express run frequently. The journey takes about 5-6 hours.

  • By Bus: Several private and state-run buses operate between Delhi and Roorkee. The journey takes around 6-7 hours.

  • By Car: Drive from Delhi to Roorkee via NH 9, which takes approximately 5-6 hours.

  • From Haridwar:

    • By Train: Local trains run frequently between Haridwar and Roorkee, taking about 30 minutes.
    • By Bus: Buses are also available, taking around 1 hour.

  • From Dehradun:

    • By Train: Local trains connect Dehradun to Roorkee in about an hour.
    • By Bus: Buses take about 1.5 hours.

(Many trains are running from major cities Upto Roorkee station too)

•Afternoon: Check-in and Lunch

  • Accommodation Options:
    • Hotel Rahi Plaza: A budget hotel with basic amenities.
    • Hotel Ram Residency: Mid-range hotel with comfortable rooms.
    • Harshikhar Hotel: Offers good services and is located near the main market.
    • Other local options also available

•Lunch: Enjoy local cuisine at a nearby restaurant or at your hotel.

•Evening: Visit Dargah Sabir Kaliyari

  • Head to Dargah Sabir Kaliyari, located about 8 km from Roorkee. You can take an auto-rickshaw or hire a cab for convenience.
  • Spend time exploring the Dargah, which is known for its beautiful architecture and serene environment. Participate in evening prayers or sit quietly to soak in the spiritual atmosphere.

•Dinner

  • Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant or back at your hotel.

Day 2: Explore Roorkee and Departure

•Morning: Breakfast and Local Sightseeing

  • Have breakfast at your hotel or a local café.
  • Visit the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, one of the oldest engineering institutions in India. Explore its beautiful campus and historical buildings.

•Afternoon: Lunch and More Sightseeing

  • Lunch at a local restaurant.
  • Visit the Roorkee Canal, where you can enjoy a peaceful walk along the canal banks. If time permits, you could also visit the Shri Ram Mandir nearby.

•Evening: Departure

  • Depending on your travel plans, head back to the railway station or bus stand for your onward journey.
  • Return Options:
    • From Roorkee to Delhi by train/bus/car as per your preference.
    • From Roorkee to Haridwar/Dehradun using local trains/buses.

Tips:

  1. Travel Booking: Book train tickets in advance, especially if traveling during weekends or holidays.
  2. Local Transport: Auto-rickshaws and taxis are easily available for local travel in Roorkee.
