Transactions and Refunds on Niyo Cards

Hi, I need some help with a transaction issue.

I tried using my Niyo DCB debit card at a Bank of America branch in the US to make a transaction of around $900. The transaction failed and showed “insufficient funds.” I then tried the Bank of America ATM, and it also showed “insufficient funds.” I did not receive any money, and Bank of America confirmed that they did not receive or charge the amount.

However, money was debited from my account.

Hi @Harshith_Guhanram

Thank you for sharing the transaction details.

To help us investigate this further, could you please share the exact transaction amount with us? Once we have this information, our team will look into it right away.

We truly appreciate your understanding and cooperation!

I reported unauthorised transactions on my Niyo Global Secured Credit Card (issued by DCB Bank) on time, within the window RBI requires. Today I got an SMS closing the case, saying my card details were “shared from my side” and concluding it was customer negligence — no contributory fraud or bank deficiency found.

The problem: I never received or entered any OTP for these transactions. No 2FA prompt at all. The SMS gave no specifics on what evidence was reviewed or how a transaction went through without OTP.

Separately, my app is showing a lien amount that doesn’t match my total credit limit, and support hasn’t explained the discrepancy.

Has anyone else faced a similar fraud-dispute rejection on this card? Curious to know:

  • Did your bank/Niyo actually share transaction logs or investigation details when asked?
  • Did escalating to DCB’s nodal officer or the RBI Ombudsman help?
  • Anyone seen the lien-amount vs. credit-limit mismatch in the app?

Hi @Sam_Edward

We are checking this with the concerned team. Please allow us some time, and we will notify you as soon as we have an update. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Hi @Sam_Edward

We are writing to provide an update regarding your dispute request (Ticket Number: CS2308506) based on the official investigation findings from the bank. The bank has classified this incident as Customer Negligence, noting that the disputed transactions across merchants like Booking.com, Amazon Marketplace, and Temu.com were unsecured online transactions (ECI 7) where no OTP was generated. Furthermore, an INR 70,000 SCC bill payment was completed on July 31, 2026, undisputed POS transactions took place on July 28, 2026, and SMS alerts were successfully delivered for all transactions before the card was eventually blocked on August 5, 2026.

As there is no evidence of a system breach, third-party fraud, or deficiency of service on the bank’s part, the case has been concluded under ticket number CS2308506 and officially closed by the bank. Thank you for your understanding in this matter. For any further details or queries regarding this investigation, you can reach out directly to DCB Bank Customer Care at customercare@dcbbank.com or by phone at 022 6899 7777 / 040 6815 7777 (8:30 AM – 8:30 PM IST).

I put my debit card inside an ATM machine for 250 euros and declined the transaction at the very end due to high markup charges. I got my card back and no cash was dispensed.

However, in my Niyo app, there is a successful transaction of 254 euros along with the balance query charges.

I did not receive any cash from the ATM machine. It is a huge amount of money for me and I am an international student, please help me.
