# Is there any way to choose your seat for free on Spirit Airlines?

I’ve seen people mention that if you wait until check-in opens (24 hours before flight), Spirit assigns seats automatically.  
But does that mean I can _choose_ a seat for free, or it’s just random?  
Anyone recently flown with them who can explain how Spirit Airlines seat selection actually works in 2025?
